This workshop deals with problems encountered in designing a painting on location.
By re-arranging masses to form a more pleasing pattern.
Changing spacial relationships
Emphasizing or minimizing elements to produce a strong design that will carry the piece from a average "okay" piece of work to a provocative piece that draws the viewer to want to stay focused for longer and not just pass over the picture.
This is accomplished by simplifying shapes and minimizing the number of values in the piece.
Number of values and percentage of each of those values in relationship to total mass are key to a strong painting.
I prefer to use Gamblin paints and products for their consistency and attention to safety and the environment.
